 The Wood Medical Practice

Booking an Appointment

The practice operates an appointments system and you can arrange an appointment by contacting our reception desk on (01506) 771800.

Appointments are available on weekdays between 8.30am and 4.30pm, though 2 mornings per week we have 2 GPs commencing at 7am. You may request to see any doctor in the practice, not just the one you are registered with. Please ask the receptionist if you have a preference but bear in mind that you may not be able to see this doctor if you reuqest is urgent.

If you need to be seen urgently, please tell the receptionist and we will see you as soon as possible. Please note that in this situation, the receptionist may well ask you the nature of your illness. This is to allow the doctor to decide how urgent your problem is. In some instances you will be asked to discuss the problem directly with the doctor, so that he/she may decide on the most appropriate action.

If you feel you need seen before the first available appointment, then you can phone at 8am to arrange an appointment that day, though this is not guaranteed.

NURSE PRACTITIONERS

Our Nurse Practitioners, Avril Brown and Veronica Reid deal with all requests for same day medical attention.  All requests for advice, same day appointments and emergencies will be dealt with by our Nurse Practitioners initially on the phone and then referred to the appropriate team member.  This process will enable patients whose need is most urgent to be seen quickly and effectively.

Avril/Veronica are available from 8.30am - 4.30pm Monday to Friday and should be contacted on the usual surgery number (01506) 771800.  This service is for conditions that will not wait until the next available appointment.

If you need seen urgently, please tell the receptionist and we will see you as soon as possible.  Please note that in this situation the receptionist may well ask you the nature of your illness.  This is to allow the Doctor or Nurse Practitioner to decide how urgent your problem is.
